Why knowledge of Vedanta and studying the Vedas doesn’t make you spiritual.

If knowledge of Sanskrit and a deep study of the Vedas were sufficient to be spiritually adept, then most of humanity would be barred from being accessing this knowledge. But, by definition, this spiritual knowledge is an inherent part of who we are.

So, if a deep study of the Vedas and knowledge of Vedanta are not sufficient to be spiritually free, then, how does one achieve this freedom ?

One becomes such a person only by living every moment of one’s life following the tenets of Vedanta philosophy and making the difficult decisions that entails and battling the demons of materialism such as lust, greed, laziness, sloth , envy etc.

Doing this ,hour by hour, day after day, week after week, or in other words , constantly, dealing with the ups and downs of life , which come with its attendant joys and despair, and still being able to stick to the Vedanta dharma is the only way to become a spiritual adept , burn away the future karma and be liberated from the cycle of birth and death.
